About the Author

Born in August 1970 in Bolton, Jason watched the magical Liverpool team dominate English football. He fell in love with the game and the way that Liverpool played. After playing semi-professional soccer, he knew he would always want to be connected to the game. In the 90s, he started taking his coaching licenses, and in 1996, he joined Preston North End FC and worked in their academy. In 2003, Jason moved to the United States.
Through years of daily involvement in youth sports and firsthand experience navigating its challenges, he developed a methodology that has proven effective at every level of the game. In 2019, Jason was hired by FC Portland Academy in Oregon as Technical Director, where he helped restore the club to the values established by Clive Charles—prioritizing the care of both players and coaches, fostering personal growth, and committing to adding value to society.
In 2023, Jason was appointed head coach at Beaverton High School. He arrived with a clear philosophy and immediately set to work rebuilding the program. Beaverton had not won a conference title since 1990, and its last state championship was in 1985. Within three years, the team captured two conference titles and, in 2025, won the Oregon state championship. Jason was named Conference Coach of the Year in 2023, 2024, and 2025, and earned the Oregon High School Coach of the Year honor in 2025.
Jason holds coaching licenses from three countries and is an A-licensed coach. His approach to the game begins not with tactics, but with culture—how people are treated, how trust is built, and how accountability is shared. From there, he emphasizes the pressures of technical development before introducing the principles that shape how his teams play. Central to his philosophy is clear, honest communication and the belief that true growth is revealed in moments of adversity, when a group must work together to identify problems and find solutions.
